Upcoming Events in 2012

February

  • February 12- Family Fun Fest at the Historic Site.  Play in the snow, take a sleigh or dog sled ride, watch the 78th Highlanders.

May

  • May 21 - The Site officially opens for the summer.  First performance of the new improved David Thompson Puppet show at 2 pm  

June

  • June  9 - Watch for our float in the Rocky Rodeo Parade

July

  • July 1 - Canada Day – A day of celebration for the whole family at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site.  Games, activities, music for the whole family throughout the entire day. Confluence Heritage Society concession and Barbeque.  Evening concert, followed by fireworks.
  • July 12 to 15th.  Calling all Drums Pow Wow.
  • July 14/15- Legends and Legacies featuring the Edmonton House Brigade.
  • July 14 - Parks Day (free entry)
  • July 27/28 - Time Traveller's Stargazing Program.

August

  • August 14-17 (session 1) and  21-24 (session 2)- Invisible History, A Public Archaeology program.
  • Aug  18 - 19 Bastions and Bones, Famous Forts Weekend

Throughout the Summer

  • Watch the David Thompson Puppet Show.
  • Shown at 2pm.  Weekends from opening day to the end of June.  From Wednesday to Sunday during July and August.

Around the site...

  • Walk the trails.
  • Take part in Parks Canada interpretive
  • activities.

    • Visit the Metis tent and experience life from days gone by.

Fall

  • September 29 - Wine tasting Historical Walk.
  • October 13- Photography Workshop at the Site.  Dust off your digital camera, come out and take some photos of terrific scenery.

8 to 10 am: Pancake Breakfast at the Rocky Museum

10 am to Dusk: All Day family Fun at the Historic Site

2 pm: Ceremonies and awards

2:30 pm Birthday cake

7 pm: outdoor concert with The Big Fonts and other local bands
